Frequently Asked Questions

What are your session fees?

Sessions are priced at £50 per 50 minutes, payable preferably 48 hours prior to each session.

You can opt to pay ahead in blocks of 4 or 6, or pay as you go.

Your first session is charged half rate at £25.

What happens after I first contact you?

Once I have received your enquiry, I will contact you by email (unless you have communicated a preference for text or phone call). If your presenting issue is something I feel I can help with, I will communicate my available appointment times. If there is a slot that works for you, I will book you in for your initial session. During this session, I will talk you through a brief questionnaire with the purpose of exploring what you are looking to get from counselling and how our work together might take shape. You are charged the half rate of £25 for this initial session, as I feel it is important for you to get a sense of whether you feel I am the right therapist for you before you make the larger financial commitment.

Following your initial session, if you choose to proceed with further sessions, I will forward you a copy of our counselling contract for you to sign and return, along with confirmation of your ongoing counselling sessions.

How many sessions do I need?

This is entirely flexible and not something you have to know or decide straight away. During your initial session we can assess a suitable timeframe estimate if that is something that might benefit you. I recognise that long-term therapy is a large commitment and isn’t financially accessible to everyone. I am happy to accommodate to whatever your preferences, whether this is one single session to clear your mind on a specific topic, or long-term therapy with space to explore situations more deeply, or any time frame in between.

What age clients do you work with?

I work with clients of any age from 12+.

What is your confidentiality policy?

Confidentiality is one of the most important elements of counselling and is a pillar of the BACP ethical framework. Anything you share with me during your sessions will be kept completely confidential, meaning I will not share your details with anyone outside the therapy room, except in the specific circumstances detailed below.

I attend regular supervision, in which I discuss my case load with my supervisor in order to ensure I am working effectively and ethically. However, no identifiable details are shared, keeping each case anonymous.

Outside of this, the only reason I would ever need to break confidentiality is if anything is shared with me that concerns illegal activity, or a risk to the safety of yourself or anybody else. In this instance, my duty of care means I would need to pass this information on to relevant bodies. This can be explained further in your initial session, or if you have any questions around this, please do ask.
